Traveller’s checklist

• The earlier you start planning for your trip the more chances you have for purchasing a ticket with more favourable terms.
• Do request travel insurance when purchasing an airline ticket! When purchasing an airline ticket, besides travel insurance, getting airline ticket insurance is also worth considering if the airfare terms and conditions do not allow for later cancellation.
• Check the validity of your passport and whether a visa or any other travel documentation is required at your destination.

• Citizens of Hungary may also go to the website of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out about admission criteria in foreign countries.

• When travelling to a tropical country, consult your physician as to whether vaccination is required.

• Should you have any special requests with regards to your travel (special meals, fragile or oversized baggage, wheelchair etc.) please let us know about this when purchasing your ticket or call the Malév Contact Centre prior to departure.
• If your child is travelling on his or her own, please discuss the terms of unattended minor service at the time of purchase or call the Malév Contact Centre at least 24 hours before scheduled departure.
• When seeking to carry live animals either on board or in the cargo bay of the aircraft, please notify our colleagues before departure or call the Malév Contact Centre.
• Ensure that every piece of luggage has a tag with your name and address on.
• Check that the dimensions and weight of your carry-on baggage do not exceed the permitted values.
• Check that your carry-on baggage does not contain items that are prohibited on board. For more information, click here.
• If you need any medication during the flight, make sure you put it in your carry-on baggage.
• If you are undergoing medical treatment, ensure that your supply of medicine is adequate for the entire duration of your trip.
• If your medical condition necessitates the inclusion of needles and syringes in your carry-on luggage, you are required to present a physician's statement.
• Do not put jewellery or other valuables in your check-in baggage as Malév, in accordance with its Terms and Conditions, assumes no liability.
• Check what the departure terminal is and at which airport.
• Prior to leaving your home, obtain information on what is the suggested time of arrival at the airport before the scheduled departure. In the case of Budapest Ferihegy, passengers are generally advised to arrive about 2 hours before departure.
• Obtain contact information for the Hungarian Embassy at your destination. A list of Hungarian embassies worldwide is available here:

• Last but not least, make sure you have the contact information of the local Malév-office as well.

ATTENTION!
Albanian citizens, holding Albanian passport with US/Canadian visa and/or Green Card or Canadian Residence Card, who are traveling from/to Tirana using two schengen transits, must have Schengen transit visa, if not travel might be refused from border police of first Schengen transit point and/or Albanian Border Police.
