Istanbul, Constantinople, Byzant

The largest town of Turkey, on the two banks of Bosphorus, on two continent, at the entry of the Black Sea. One of the world's most exiting and stirring town. Its landscape is determined by the domes of the lots os mosques, the tops os minarets build everywhere, on the seven hills of Istambul.

The most important commercial centre of the country serves more than 60% of the total traffic of Turkey. The greek town founded 660 AD is uniquely built on two continents: Europe and Asia. As Byzant it was the capital of the Byzantine Empire for thousand years, as Constantinople it was the capital of the Osman Empire.

The town now includes three historical parts: Stambul, located between the Marble Sea and the peninsula called Golden Horn; Beyoglu, which contains the suburbs Galat and Pera; and Üsküdar what can be found on the Asian part of the Bosphorus.

Most of the sights are in Stambul: Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and a lots of wonderful monuments of this historical meetropolis.
