Damascus guide

The capital of Syria is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited city on Earth.

During its seven millennium of history memories of different cultures mixed together, this makes Damascus so magical and colourful. The traditions and habits of local people and the characteristics of the Arabian world also add to this picture. Syrian people are really friendly and hospitable and they seem to have time for everything.

At arrival to the airport, tourists immediately find themselves in the middle of a bustling crowd. In downtown sightseeing should start in the ancient city, with one of the largest mosque on the world, the Umayyad Mosque, built on the remnants of an ancient temple and a Christian cathedral. Next to it Souq al-Hamidiyyah, the biggest bazaar of Syria is located. Travellers must definitely see the Saladin Mausoleum and the National Museum, just like the Azem Palace which is one of the most amazing buildings of the Middle-East. From Damascus a daytrip can be organised to the middle of the desert to see the Roman city of Palmyra.
