Malev Hungarian Airlines - environmental policy

As the national airline of Hungary we conduct all our activities, and plan and implement our developments, with particular regard to preserving and protecting the environment.

We are fully aware that, as a player on the aviation market, the formation and development of an environmentally conscious approach is a fundamental requirement expected of us. This is precisely the reason that we have undertaken a commitment in our corporate environmental policy to continually improve our environmental protection activities and prevent environmental pollution.

Accordingly, we have formulated the following objectives:

1. We shall endeavour to establish a modern, economical, low emission fleet and employ techniques and procedures causing the least possible impact to the environment.

2. When planning new investments and developments, we are committed to take the fullest possible account of environmental protection factors.

3. We shall continually monitor the environmental factors of our activities and make every effort to reduce their harmful environmental impacts.

4. We shall place particular emphasis on expanding an environmentally conscious attitude among our staff and continually broadening their understanding of green issues.

5. We shall participate in the relevant activities of international organizations, and through our observations assist in the formulation of legislation.

6. We shall give particular attention to the communication of information on environmental protection, compliance with the provisions of prevailing legislation and orders issued by authorities, and the operation of systems serving to shape public opinion.

We expect every member of staff to assist in realizing environmental protection goals.

Malév voted the most trusted "GREEN" airline

A European Trusted Brands (ETB) readership survey by Reader's Digest magazine reveals that Malév is the most reliable brand from an environmental perspective.

Reader's Digest magazine launched the European Trusted Brands (ETB) survey in 2001. Today, it is one of the largest and most extensive consumer studies conducted in Europe. This year the survey covered 16 countries in Europe (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland) with its primary goal to discover those brands that European consumers trust the most.

For the first time this year, the authoritative survey examined how far consumers considered the various brands trustworthy from an environmental aspect.

Those filling out the questionnaire were asked to name one brand in all of the given product/service categories that they considered enjoyed the greatest reputation in the matter of environmental issues.

The result of the Hungary survey placed Malév winner of the "Trusted Brand Environment 2009" award.

Reader's Digest is published in 50 countries around the globe. It is the largest-selling monthly magazine in these countries, thus in Hungary, too.
