More than 1 million people saw the Malév B737 commemorative flight over the centre of Budapest on 20 August, Hungary's national holiday.
Kentaur has accepted a seat on the expert panel judging designs submitted to our tender seeking a unique image for the Malév Q400, tail number HA-LQD. The Hungarian artist (whose reputation extends far beyond the borders of Hungary) says that the Malév aircraft design tender is an extremely exciting and unique initiative, which is sure to stimulate the creativity of many. Kentaur is looking forward to judging a whole range of applications, from humorous ideas to more serious designs that reflect national values.
SuperJet International and Hungarian national carrier Malev signed a Letter of Intent for the purchase of thirty Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. The LOI has been executed today at the Paris Air Show, by Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of Malév Hungarian Airlines and Alessandro Franzoni, Chief Executive Officer of SuperJet International. The agreement has a potential value of up to 1 Billion US$.
Malévs new scheduled flight touched down at Pulkovo airport, St. Petersburg in the early evening. After nearly a decade the Hungarian national carrier has restarted its route to one of the largest urban centres in Russia. Flights operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, during the high season, between 22 April and 21 October. The first Malév aircraft was received at Pulkovo airport in a ceremony marking the inauguration of the service.
Malév flight 872 touched down at Iasi airport on 30th March afternoon, marking the opening of the Hungarian national airline’s fifth destination in Romania. The airline operates five daytime flights a week until the end of May and six a week from June to this regional centre in the northeast of Romania. Flights are covered by the carrier’s Q400 regional turboprops.
Malév cabin crew and pilots with the greatest number of flown hours last year staged a special water rescue exercise this morning. After receiving accolades for their outstanding performance and professionalism, the flight attendants and pilots – each of whom has clocked up several hundred flying hours – showed the correct rescue procedure to be followed in the case of an emergency ditching in water. The presentation was staged in the Aquaworld swimming pool.
05.12.2008. It is now a tradition for Malév to bring Finland’s Father Christmas all the way from Rovaniemi in Lapland to Budapest. As usual, from the moment of his arrival Joulupukki finds himself surrounded by children; initially some 80 small guests from the Municipal Children’s Protection Service and the Vecsés Tündérkert Nursery School met him at the airport.
29.11.2008. Malév entered its first Q400 aircraft into scheduled service. The latest member of the fleet made its first flight to Bucharest on 29 November.
17.10.2008 , Malév Hungarian Airlines and Mondial Assistance international insurance corporation have introduced a new online service for customers. The insurance packages are being promoted in the media by the Mondial “guardian angel” and Malév flight attendants.
21.08.2008, György Gulyás, Malév first officer on B737s, has been declared world champion at the 30th World Gliding Championships. Malév’s CEO Mr Peter Leonov felicitated him at the Dunakeszi Airport on the ocassion.
20.08.2008, Malév Hungarian Airlines once again provided crowds gathered along the Danube in the capital for the 20 August national holiday with a truly unforgettable sight, this time in partnership with the Goldtimer Foundation.
