New generation passenger service system at Malév

Amadeus - Malév partnership

2009. 10. 21

Malév is switching over to the Amadeus Altéa new generation passenger service platform by end 2010. As the first stage in this move the Hungarian airline renewed the online booking engine in August of this year. In November one module of the new system platform - along with associated developments and modifications - is scheduled to be introduced in the inventory management field.  Introduction of the Amadeus Altéa system represents an integral part of Malév's new, dynamic sales strategy. The airline expects that this move will result in an expansion of capacity and increase in passenger numbers.

In spring 2009 Malév signed a long-term cooperation agreement with Amadeus, which stands at the cutting edge of new generation technology solutions. Malév is a leading technology user in the Central-Eastern Europe airline industry. The adoption of this platform will give Malév a competitive advantage over other carriers which support their operations on legacy passenger service systems.

Utilization of Amadeus Altéa guarantees benefits both for Malév customers and Malév staff. The new online booking system is extremely user friendly, and making ticket reservations and travel planning has become simpler and more transparent for airline passengers.

Malév staff using the Altéa system now work off a unified platform employing rapid, innovative technology. Centralized management of the customer database means that it is far easier to transfer information right from the air ticket reservation through to check-in. Malév agents can ensure a consistent and improved service by accessing a single and shared passenger profile at all customer facing touch-points.

Altéa also brings new features such as user-friendly graphical interface for check-in agents or automated processes to manage unexpected flight itinerary changes. These tools help increase agents productivity and simplify and speed up customer processes at the airport.

The Amadeus-developed Altéa system provides solutions unique in the technology industry. The fully graphical platform will become the most widely used passenger service system among members of the oneworld alliance. oneworld member airlines British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, LAN, and Qantas already use Amadeus as their main IT platform, while partner Cathay Pacific and member elect Mexicana are migrating to the system.

Through the utilization of Amadeus Altéa Customer Management System, Malév - as a oneworld member airline - can enjoy a seamless integration into and adjust to the IT systems used by other oneworld members.
