Malév is the Best Airline Eastern Europe in 2010
More than 40 airlines from around the world assembled to receive their accolades, which were handed out by Mr Edward Plaisted, Chairman of Skytrax.

The award winners are selected by the airline industry's most important audience, it's customers. More than 17.9 million air travellers from over 100 different nationalities took part in the 10 month survey, between July 2009 and April 2010. The awards are respected and recognised around the world for being the only truly global, independent passenger survey of airline standards.
Commenting on the award to Malev Hungarian Airlines, Mr Plaisted said:
"this is a fantastic achievement for Malev, and they are clearly meeting and exceeding their customer's expectations to have been named Best Airline Eastern Europe. The awards are true recognition of the front-line product and service that Malev is delivering to customers, and the award slogan of 'The Passenger's Choice' underlines the fact that Malev are succeeding in satisfying the hardest critics - their users."
Double victory
At this year's Annual Aviation Business Gala Budapest Airport once again presented awards for outstanding performance to airlines and companies involved in aviation considered the best.

The Hungarian national carrier was doubly triumphant - it excelled in the 'Best Developing Airline/Full Service Carrier' and the 'Best Marketing Award Off Airport' categories. Malév's Chief Commercial Officer, Karim Makhlouf, accepted both awards from Budapest Airport CEO, Jost Lammers, and Aviation Director, Kam Jandu.
Last year, which generally saw a set-back in the aviation industry, Malév performed better than the European average and, in contrast with European trends, increased the number of its passengers.
The airline's market share of passengers using Ferihegy airport rose by two percentage points to 43.5%. The number of its passengers on both scheduled and charter flights reached 3.3 million in 2009, an increase of 6% compared to the previous year.
Malév voted the most trusted "GREEN" airline
A European Trusted Brands (ETB) readership survey by Reader's Digest magazine reveals that Malév is the most reliable brand from an environmental perspective.
Reader's Digest magazine launched the European Trusted Brands (ETB) survey in 2001. Today, it is one of the largest and most extensive consumer studies conducted in Europe. This year the survey covered 16 countries in Europe (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland) with its primary goal to discover those brands that European consumers trust the most.
For the first time this year, the authoritative survey examined how far consumers considered the various brands trustworthy from an environmental aspect.
Those filling out the questionnaire were asked to name one brand in all of the given product/service categories that they considered enjoyed the greatest reputation in the matter of environmental issues.
The result of the Hungary survey placed Malév winner of the "Trusted Brand Environment 2009" award.
Reader's Digest is published in 50 countries around the globe. It is the largest-selling monthly magazine in these countries, thus in Hungary, too.
Skytrax award for Malév flight attendants
Air travellers consider Malév cabin staff the best among the airlines of Eastern Europe, according to the latest (2008) annual Skytrax survey of carriers. Skytrax, which is one of the most trusted independent organizations reviewing service quality in the airline industry, questioned more than 15 million passengers from 95 nations globally, asking what they thought of the services supplied by the world's airlines.
Best Airline in Eastern Europe - 2006, 2007
In a survey of the world's best airlines, airports, hotels and cities conducted by American Global Traveler magazine, premium frequent flyers voted Malév "Best Airline in Eastern Europe" for 2007. Malév Hungarian Airlines is awarded second times by Global Traveler magazine, as Malév was named the best Airline in Eastern Europe last year by more than 10 thousand industry professionals and frequent flyer readers.
IOSA registered airline
On 3 July 2006, Malév was entered onto the IATA IOSA registered airlines list (www.iata.org/registry) following the successful conclusion of the international airline industry's benchmark safety operation audit. This means that Malév ranks among those top airlines providing IATA-recognized and certified secure and quality services.
Malév also passed the global airline industry's benchmark operational safety audit with excellent results in April 2008. As a consequence, the auditing organization, IATA, renewed the company's IOSA registration for a further two years.
Among the most punctual airlines in Europe
Malév aircraft flying short- and medium-haul routes had the best on-time arrival performance, the first 2008 quarterly report of the Association of European Airlines (AEA) shows.
The statistical survey summarizing traffic and baggage handling data of European airlines also revealed that Malév came third on short- and medium-haul flights in terms of punctual departures in Europe, while it is fifth on baggage delivery performance. More than 95% of the flights of Malév are within a radius of 3000 km, therefore these figures are highly representative of the airline's overall operation.
Irish professional tribute
The Irish Travel Trade News hosted its 15th annual "best supplier" awards ceremony in Ireland on 24 January 2007. In the Best Europe Airline category, Malév Hungarian Airlines was voted runner-up by owners, management and staff of IATA travel agencies in the Republic and Northern Ireland. The ITTN awards are uniquely "by professionals to professionals", making them prized by winning suppliers.
"Airline of the Year" - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
A poll in Hungary of tourism professionals, frequent flyer business travelers, company managers and passengers resulted in Malév being awarded the "Airline of the Year" prize for 2007. The national airline was awarded this prestigious tribute on the basis of a public opinion survey carried out by "Az Utazó" (Traveler) magazine, and it follows on from similar awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
