1. Buy your air tickets at least 48 hours before flying. The earlier you buy, the greater the chance you’ll be able to pick up an even cheaper airfare.
2. Take out insurance when you buy your ticket. Malév offices offer two types of insurance policy: travel insurance and ticket refund insurance (the latter to cover you in case the air ticket conditions do not permit cancellations).
3. Check the validity of your passport.
4. Check to see if you need a visa or other travel documentation to enter the destination country.

5. If you are travelling to a tropical country, check with your doctor to see if you require any vaccinations.

6. If you require a wheelchair or other assistance, please contact Malév’s Call Center on 06 40 21 21 21, or +36 1 235 3888 from outside Hungary.
7. If your child is travelling alone, you must arrange this with our staff when you book the ticket or you must contact the Malév Call Center on 06 40 21 21 21, or +36 1 235 3888 from outside Hungary at least one day before travelling.
8. If you want to take a pet with you, check the relevant regulations with a member of staff on 06 40 21 21 21, or +36 1 235 3888 from outside Hungary.
9. Write your name and address on your baggage and carry-on bags.
10. Make sure you have absolutely no sharp or pointed objects in your hand luggage! (This ban includes, for example, nail scissors and tweezers.)
11. Check to make sure the dimensions and weight of your baggage and hand luggage do not exceed the maximum permissible for your flight.
12. Make sure your baggage does not include anything else that may not be taken on board. Click here for a list of banned items.
13. If you will need any medication during the flight, make sure you have packed it in your hand luggage. Flight attendants are not permitted to give any medication – including for travel sickness or headaches – to passengers.
14. If you are taking a course of medication, make sure that you take enough for the entire length of your stay.
15. If you need to carry hypodermic needles in your carry-on bag, please ask your doctor for a certificate authorizing this.
16. You will have to pass through metal detectors at the airports, so try to carry as little metal as possible (e.g. jewellery, watch). (Your wallet, mobile phone and other electronic equipment will be screened separately.)
17. Pack travel documents in your hand luggage.
18. It is always worth packing jewellery and other valuables in your hand luggage.
19. Check to see which terminal you are departing from.
20. Arrive at the airport an hour to an hour-and-a-half before flight departure. You are advised to leave even more time if departing from a larger airport.
21. Plan your trip beforehand! You can reserve accommodation and rent a car on the Malév web site, at very competitive rates, and pay for them immediately by credit card.

25. You may be asked to show your passport and boarding card at the airport on several occasions, so it is worth keeping these documents in an easily accessible and yet secure place.
26. Check the local weather forecast on the Malév web site before leaving for the airport.
27. Latest check-in time
We would like to call our passengers' attention, that due to the Schengen changes we strongly recommend to arrive at the Ferihegy airport 2 hours before departure time. If you have forgotten to check if you need visa in the country you are traveling to, you still have the chance to have it in some cases in the visa office that you can find in the arrival hall of terminal 2/A, in the transit area.
29. Please contact the nearest Malév office or travel agency either personally or by telephone during your trip in order to leave an address and telephone number where you can be reached and to reconfirm your onward and/or return flight reservations. This will enable Malév or the travel agent to inform you of any changes affecting your flight.
